Things I Wish I Had Known

I decided my first post should be what mistakes I made that I don’t want other people to make. Here are a couple things I learned-

When I was on my first horse, Marvin, who is very slow and ornery(pictured above), I don’t know if you guys can see, but I have my hands ON THE SADDLE, plus they are very loosely holding the reins. I’m almost not even holding them. That puts me in a dangerous position. If the horse were to get spooked or rear up, the reins would probably be jerked from my hands immediately.

Also, from what little you can see of my face, I am looking at the horse, not in front and focused where I should be. Another important thing to concentrate on here, because I can’t see if there is obstacles or something dangerous in front of me.

This is me on Paint/Quarter Horse gelding Seamis. I have an okay posture as I look back at my instructor.

My feet aren’t shown in the photograph at the top of the page(not this one of Seamis), but they are actually out of the stirrups and my toes are pointed down! Oh, my!

A Miniature Of A Horse

Doesn’t everyone love the tiny animals! I love the small horses. The one pictured in this photo is a Shetland stallion. Tiny horses are so adorable. I knew of someone who had a pair of mini’s that pulled a “mini” cart.  It was so cute. Who knew such tiny creatures possessed that much strength to pull a cart and a human besides? What wonderful designs they have!
